(FCAK Celebration of the 103rd Anniversary of the Philippine Independence held at Capital Hotel, Seoul, Korea)

Almighty and ever loving God, guide us through the challenges of life, and inspire us with your love, guide us with your wisdom and strengthen us with your grace. May we grow strong and courageous in face of adversities and tribulations that beset our native land.
As we commemorate the 103rd Anniversary of our Philippine Independence, may we become aware of the great importance of faith and freedom; and with one heart and mind, may our people and our government leaders exert a concerted patriotic effort to uplift the quality of life out of pure, sincere and heroic love for our native land, our very own "patria adorada."
May our People not get discouraged by the seemingly insurmountable problems, failures and tribulations present these days. Rather, with faith in Your Divine Providence, may our People's hearts and will, grow stronger and more determined to do their best in the face of great trials and catastrophies; for we know Lord, that it is through the way of the Cross that we will attain victory and glorious success. This, O Lord, is Your Way. May this be also Our Way!
Finally, Heavenly Father, help all Filipinos, at home and abroad to grow in the knowledge of Your peace, love, liberty, service and justice. For it is through the promotion of these that our nation, our people could find meaning and value in their being true Filipinos. Accompany us Lord, along the rough roads we travel, and may we always derive strength and determination from the bounty of your loving Heart. Amen.

"Be joyful always; pray at all times; be thankful in all circumstances. This is what God wants from you in your life in union with Christ Jesus." (1 Thess. 5: 16-18).

For Independence Day Message:

Angels By Your Side

May you always have an angel by your side
Watching out for you in all the things you do
Reminding you to keep believing in brighter days
Finding ways for your wishes and dreams to take you to beautiful places
Giving you hope that is as certain as the sun
Giving you the strength of serenity as your guide
May you always have love and comfort and courage
And may you always have an angel by your side
May you always have an angel by your side
Someone there to catch you if you fall
Encouraging your dreams Inspiring your happiness
Holding your hand and helping you through it all
In all of our days, our lives are always changing
Tears come along as well as smiles
Along the roads you travel, may the miles be a thousand times more lovely than lonely
May they give you the kind of gifts that never, ever end:
someone wonderful to love and a dear friend in whom you can confide
May you have rainbows after every storm
May you have hopes to keep you warm
And may you always have an angel by your side

The 103rd Anniversary Celebration of the Philippine Independence is an important occasion for all of us Filipinos at home and abroad to remind ourselves of the great importance of our spiritual and political heritage, namely faith and freedom. These are two priceless values that we Filipinos possess and these, when fully harnessed, could propel us to unprecedented heights.

Our Christian faith has given us inner spiritual strength that enabled us to withstand catastrophies, great trials, misfortune and natural calamities of immense proportion. This same faith has given us a Filipino soul and a sense of religiousity and identity. As Filipinos, we do believe in miracles. We have experienced God¡¯s various marvellous deeds in our midst. Let us recall what Pope John Paul II said during the final Holy Mass for the World Youth Day, when standing before a throng of over 4.5 million people (the largest gathering of people in human history). His Holiness said, ¡°You, Filipinos, are a PHENOMENON!¡± That is the greatest compliment our people ever received. And that does not need any explanation because it says it all!

The freedom that we now enjoy is the fruit of the great sacrifice made by our national heroes such as Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio, Gabriela Silang, Apolinario Mabini, Tandang Sora, Emilio Jacinto and many more. May their lives inspire our people, moreso our national leaders and government officials to love our country, get rid of corruption and greed, and make great sacrifices so that our country could advance, develop and prosper.

What is happening to our country in the last 20 or so years is a painful unfolding of events but it could be viewed positively as a blessing in disguise because it is a purification and polishing process toward a forging of one Filipino nation. The painful Passover experience of God¡¯s people from the bondage in Egypt to freedom in the Promised Land lasted for so many years. Or what happened to the French Revolution in 1789 or the Civil War in the United States could shock us since so much blood was spilled and so many lives were lost.
Or think of various bloody cultural revolutions in other countries that involved massive killings of people. Thank God, we are spared by Him from such unfortunate situations.

So we have all the reasons to hope for a dawning of a new day in our beloved native land! For a united Filipino People! Let us count our blessings; correct our wrong-doings; and enthusiastically, work for a better tomorrow! Let our faith in God's goodness and our freedom be our dynamo on the road to success!
